Zephie is a track inspection vehicle from Chuggington.

Personality[]

Used for track inspection, private transport for two, and small freight deliveries, Zephie is an energetic scissor lift trolley who zips up and down the tracks of Crotoonia. Fun-loving but knowing when it's time to work, she isn't the strongest due to how small her motor is, but she makes up for it by how quickly she can get around to work! She looks up to Brewster as an idol and likes stopping by the construction site to drop off people or cargo for builds. Zephie is an especially unusual trolley, as she can turn all the way around or lift her cabin up and down! This makes her handy for checking out hard-to-see spots and navigating tighter areas.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

Zephie is loosely based on an early San Diego cable car, which can not spin around 360 degrees. The spinning function may have come from a Manchester horse drawn tram. It had the ability to turn 180 degrees. The spinning feature may also have been inspired by certain North American track inspection cars ("speeders"), such as certain versions of the Fairmont P-5, which are equipped with a drop down lifting pivot. In such cars a central foot is dropped between the rails from the centre of the car, raising the entire machine (including the wheels) off the rails, and enabling the operator to spin the entire car around by hand.

Livery[]

Zephie is painted green with rims of brown and gold along with gold eye-frames. Her doors are wooden brown with brass yellow rims. Her roof is green too and has a golden bell. Much like many other engines from Chuggington, her wheels are dark grey.
